WINSFORD HALITE

Community Building

A phased regeneration masterplan for Winsford town centre, focused upon the repositioning and strategic development of the tired 1970’s Winsford Cross Shopping Centre, purchased by Cheshire West & Chester Council in 2018.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team including Economic Development Consultants & Place-Branding, we led the development of a strategic and architectural plan which aimed to dramatically reduce the retail content and open-up the enclosed shopping centre, whilst introducing a more diverse composition of uses including leisure, workplace and a community hub building branded ‘The Winsford Social’.

Later phases would see the delivery of town centre living and potentially a hotel. Referencing the local salt mining heritage, the Winsford Halite project evolved through 2019 and 2020, steered by the Council client and LPA, and following a public exhibition, a phase one plan was submitted as the basis of Winsford’s successful bid to the Government’s Future High Street Fund which will introduce over £20million of investment to the community.
