WHITE CITY TRANSPORT HUB

Creating a safe, yet exciting, arrival experience at this busy transport hub in White City, London. Creating a sense of place and identity, allowing visitors to feel they have ‘arrived’ at the iconic shopping destination.

We were briefed to regenerated the pedestrianised exterior space, formally called ‘Southern Interchange’, located between Shepards Bush underground, overground and bus station.

The aspiration of the project was to improve the visitor arrival experience from all transport hubs, whilst also enabling a strategic return on investment by leveraging new commercial opportunities in the space.

The human centred design resulted in the creation of a mixed use public realm with a range of advertising opportunities, brand activation, pop-up retail and permanent kiosks, with the following in mind:

/ People: The relationship between people and space within the context of an active urban setting, making the space attractive to both local people and visitors

/ Attraction: Create a destination that is not just the gate way to a retail hub but a curated immersive experience in constant flux that adapts to tenant requirements and seasons

/ Community: The street should be a community space that allows for social connections

/ Function: Prioritise the efficient and safe flow of visitors around the transport hubs

/ Activation: Invite the best and most engaging brands to use this space, leveraging branded collaborations.

Project scope: Research & insight / Strategy & positioning / Environment design.
